Sagar Institute of Science Technology and Engineering Bhopal is the remote center for ISTE Workshop under National Mission on Education through ICT (MHRD, Govt. of India) which is being organized by IIT Bombay since 2013. Remote Center is a place from where the participants can interact with the instructor who conducts live sessions from IIT Bombay. These are transmitted to RC using A-VIEW software. On 16 January 2017 IIT Bombay ran a special training program on Hackathons at its remote centers from 3P.M. to 6 P.M. to develop the Hackathon Culture among the budding technocrats. Out of 250 Remote Centers, 130 participated and SISTec-E is proud to be a part of it. This Special training Program was the result of the collaborative effort of AICTE under the aegis of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India with MyGov, NASSCOM, UGC, i4c and Persistent Systems. It was organized in various remote centers across the country in which 3500 students participated. This initiative is led by Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, chairman AICTE. It aims to create a model where energy and creativity of these youngsters would be used to develop innovative digital solutions which will help build the nation.
Shri Prakash Javadekar, Hon’ble Minister for HRD, Govt. of India launched it on MyGov platform on 9th Nov. He is the Chief Patron for this initiative.SISTec-E as a Remote Center offered the facility of online training to 65 registered candidates comprising of faculty members and selective students from all the three institutes of SISTec under the guidance of Dr. Ekta Mishra NMEICT Remote Center Coordinator SISTec-E (1292). Presence of Principals of SISTec (Ratibad Campus) was encouraging for all of us.The session started with key note address by Prof. Anil Sahasrabudhe, chairman AICTE, Prof. Deepak B Phatak Prof. Krithivasan Ramamritham. They enlightened us with the meaning of Hackathon, suggestions related to it and its Do’s and Don’ts. They also discussed the guidelines on the formation of team, shortlisting criteria and emphasized on out -of-box-thinking. They laid emphasis on the importance of innovation in enhancing the manufacturing prowess of India. They imparted some glimpses of past experiences of this initiative through videos. The session which started amicably ended with question answer session in which our students also got the chance to ask a few questions, which they answered gladly. It was therefore a great opportunity for all of us to attend such an informative session conducted by IIT-Bombay. We once again Congratulate and Thanks Dr. Ekta Mishra for putting efforts and providing the platform where we could participate and interact with such eminent Professors of IIT-Bombay.
